Found something today to prove I was never nuts...lol
As its that time of day again, here are some more links. Here is the highlite, I remember when I was a kid, my Uncle told me a story about what he used to do when he worked in the CIA. I have to admit He kept his mouth shut, and anything he did slip on, was impossible to verify or atleast as a kid. But I remember in the late 80's he was talking about what kind of work he oversaw in the late 70's.
This topic came up in conversation, when I said that laser pointers are sure dropping in price. He said lasers have been around awhile longer than you think, "When I was in the cia, I was working on developing lasers to be used from military jets to shoot down enemy missles..." Yeah well, none of my military friends all throughout college had heard of such a thing.
Damnest thing, today I was searching online for uses of an old magnetron and came across The Airborne Laser Project,..."The airborne laser would fire a Chemical Oxygen Iodine Laser, or COIL, invented at Phillips Lab in 1977. The laser's fuel consists of the same chemicals found in hair bleach and Drano - hydrogen peroxide and potassium hydroxide - which are then combined with chlorine gas and water. The laser operates at an infrared wavelength of 1.315 microns, which is invisible to the eye."
